British govt should apologise for Jallianwala Bagh massacre: Akali Dal

A member in the #LokSabha demanded that the British government should apologise for the #JallianwalaBagh massacre that happened in #Amritsar in 1919.

A member in the Lok Sabha on Friday, 21 December, demanded that the British government should apologise for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that happened in Amritsar in 1919.

The demand was made by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) member Prem Singh Chandumajra during the Zero Hour.

He said the Indian government should put pressure on the British government and seek an apology for the massacre.

It would be the centenary year of the massacre in April2019 and the government has prepared a blue print for the year-long commemoration.

In the United Kingdom, the British Indian diaspora will mark the centenary at the prestigious Asian Awards in 2019.

Author Saurav Dutt will also be releasing a commemorative book to mark the anniversary of this atrocity entitled Garden of Bullets: Massacre at Jallianwala Bagh.
